Quite possibly the coolest thing i've done

For Father's day we made this book for our dads. You know the Dr. Seuss book "The Foot Book"? Well we made the book but put our own pictures in it. Here are some of my favorite pages but I loved the whole thing.

Left foot Left foot Right foot right
Feet in the morning feet at night.
(Sam sleeps like me, with his blanket over his head.)

Slow feet quick feet trick feet sick feet

small feet big feet
here come pig feet

more and more feet 24 feet
here come more and more and more feet

the pictures don't do it justice.

more and more feet!

This started with a small idea and then got bigger and bigger. It was so much fun! It's now hanging from our fireplace and I love it. It's so pretty and colorful.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

We celebrated by making the hat and eating green eggs and ham--which i thought were extremely unappetizing. Sam was not around for the festivities but I'm sure he will be coupled with green eggs and ham more times than he ever cares to in the next 6-8 years with birthdays and halloweens etc. so I don't feel too bad.

Jackson's art!

I just wanted to show some of the really cool crafts we've copied from No time for flashcards. A couple were interpreted our own way for our needs. She has really cute craft ideas for toddlers to do. It's been fun to watch Jackson learn how some new skills. Some of those we just did during the day but a lot of them we've made for Family Home Evening. We really weren't good at it, thinking Jackson was too young to care but boy were we wrong. He loves it! Last night he was begging all through dinner and us getting ready to start family home evening. These are some of the other things we've made. He's really liked the games (matching, red light/green light) and wants to play them all the time.

Now this is obviously Brent's creation. I thought it was pretty far over his head but he loves it too. He'll walk up to the fridge and talk about what happens (well we just did it last night.) I love it because it's SO Brent. He is not a simple quick artist. If he's drawing he's really gonna draw it.

messy boy

So it's been really rainy here. We decided to try finger painting. That might sound normal for any other 2 year old but I really didn't know if Jackson would enjoy it. He can't stand getting messy. He flipped out even as a baby when he got messy. He got frosting on his hand from his birthday cake (both of them) and freaked until he got cleaned up. There are dozens of stories I could tell but.... I suppose you can just trust me. Anyway, after like the 4th attempt at finger painting he actually enjoyed it.

When I went back looking at pictures I saw this one. I guess I was so eager about the painting I didn't notice how close he came to grabbing the camera. Dodged a bullet on that one.
